Triennial Messianic Devotional Bible

To Messianic Jews (plus Messianic Gentiles and Gentiles in Jewish Missions), shalom!

We are currently working on a new “Read the Whole Bible” plan which we have dubbed the “Triennial Messianic Devotional Bible” (TMDB):

  • Triennial tri- meaning “three”, plus -ennial meaning “recurring at or marking intervals of (so many) years” (Webster). So, “taking 3 years”.
  • Messianic meaning text written by Jewish believers in Yeshua (Jesus) as the promised (Jewish) Messiah.
  • Devotional – containing “devotions” – guidance for our daily quiet times with the LORD to disciple us and draw us closer to the God of Israel.
  • Bible – a complete Bible (even if the layout is unique).

We are looking for 2,976 teachings, devotions, blogs, testimonies, etc, by Messianics* to give insights regarding the Hebraic foundations of God’s Word so that Christians like us can understand what we are reading when we read the Bible – a bit like the Apostle Philip did for the Ethiopian eunuch (see Acts 8:26-40).

——–
*people who believe that Yeshua/Jesus is the Messiah, including Messianic Jews, Messianic Gentiles, and Gentiles in Jewish missions

Initially, we plan an electronic version to submit to online Bible apps and distribute free as a PDF, then, God-willing, a printed edition in the future.

This webpage contains some of our ideas.

History

Della, having spent time in Israel sharing the Good News with various ministries between 2006 and 2018, appreciated teachings by Jewish believers regarding the Jewish foundations of the Christian faith.

Prior to that, she had received a NIV Women’s Devotional Bible when she was newly married back in 1994 and appreciated being able to read an apt devotion on the passages she read!

Therefore, Della is keen to promote Jewish mission with her Christian friends who are, like she had been, ignorant of the fact that the Bible we love, was written mostly in Israel, by Jewish men, for the Jewish people first, in the Hebrew language, culture, and mindset.

Della loves God’s Word. Since she committed her life to the LORD in 1983, she has been trying to read the whole Bible in one year, unsuccessfully. Frustrated with her slow reading ability, in 2010 she decided that instead of reading three chapters per day to complete the Bible in one year (which is the schedule for most reading plans), she would read one chapter per day to complete it in three years. It took her five years! But she did it. She “ate the ‘elephant’, one bite at a time!”

So, in 2019, she began formulating the idea to combine all these things – a devotional Bible with daily Hebrew insights written by Jews who believe that Yeshua (Jesus) is the Messiah, via a three-year reading plan. But she could not work out a satisfactory schedule.

However, in January 2025, the reading plan suddenly came together where each weekday we read a portion of the Tanakh and a portion of the NT, as well as a “Proverb of the Day” to memorise, plus Torah readings on Shabbat, and a Psalm on Sundays! ! So began to contact her friends in Jewish missions, all around the world, asking for devotions, Testimonies, and teachings, plus subscribing to blogs from Jews around the world, etc. Thus, the compilation of the Triennial Messianic Devotional Bible Bible, has started!

Unique Bible Reading Plan:

This TMD Bible is unique is in six ways:

The Tanakh (Old Testament) and the New Testament are parallel throughout this edition. Therefore, Genesis 1 is on the left-hand page and Matthew 1 is on the right. So, readers can work their way through the entire Bible like a book, without having to flick to the different sections each day to read the different portions. We just turn one page per day!

Weekends are special and we believe should include a day of rest. So, we have designed this Bible so that weekend readings are far shorter and placed throughout the Bible every 7th day. The readings are less that one page each.

Shabbats – we have apportioned shorter readings from the Torah (Pentateuch) books. Therefore, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy are not between Exodus and Joshua – they are throughout this Bible in order, every 7th page, on the Shabbats (Saturdays). So, together we will read Leviticus throughout Year 1, Numbers throughout Year 2, and Deuteronomy throughout Year 3, on each Shabbat.

Sundays – There are approximately 156 Sundays in three years (52 x 3) so we have allotted “A-Psalm-a-Sunday”. The Bible contains 150 Psalms so, if we read one Psalm every Sunday and read the very long Psalm 119 over multiple Sundays, we will read them all over three years. Therefore, the Book of Psalms is not in the centre of this Bible – each Psalm is in order, opposite the allotted Torah/Shabbat reading, as our Sunday readings.

Another feature of the TMD Bible is the checkboxes at the bottom of every page so you can record your progress. There is such satisfaction when we can tick off something on our “to do” list! Even if we pause the daily readings, we can easily see which pages we have already read.

How many checkboxes can you tick!? (When you mark them all on every page, you would have read the Bible through 9 times!)

The Book of Proverbs contains so much wisdom that, to us, seemed a shame to read bulk verses in one sitting (which is what most reading plans require), so we have designed the TMD Bible to include a single Proverb meme every weekday (a total of 874 portions). Therefore, Proverbs is not found in the middle of this Bible after Psalms, because they are, in order, throughout the entire Bible as memes^ in the top right corner of every weekday reading. We hope to add any testimonies or devotions of each proverb as an appendix.

^We are looking for Messianic artists / graphic designers who can create memes for us in exchange for free advertisement of their skills, products, and websites.

If you know of any artists, songs, maps, charts, poetry, paintings, or other multi-media that is connected to (or inspired by) a particular passage, please send us the link so we can attach it to that passage under appropriate icons: speaker (audio) or YouTube (video) icon.

If the artist would like to send us their 250-word testimony about how they were inspired to create their media from that passage, we would love to add it to the appropriate passage as the “devotion”.

Every testimony / devotion the artist submits, means another page of free advertising for them.

We will get permission to use maps and other illustrations and media throughout this Bible too.

Devotions / Teachings / Testimonies / Blogs Needed

So, we are looking sound Messianics who will submit written matter (approximately 250 words) for this unique Bible reading+devotional plan. Do you (or someone you know) fit this criteria?

Please tap here to see which passages are still needing devotions submitted:

Memes Needed

We are also looking for Messianics who can volunteer to create memes from the Book of Proverbs – each meme illustrating a few verses. We can advertise you for free in exchange for your service.

Each meme should be approximately 50mm / 2in wide (square or landscape, not portrait).

Please tap here to see which proverbs are still needing memes designed:

But, the most vital need is prayer support.

Pray for the work – this is a massive project and any project which encourages and enlightens people about God and His Word, particularly by Jewish believers, is targeted by our enemy. Even more so in these last days! Please pray for us.

Pray for the contributors – that they will be inspired by our Creator to submit sound, wholesome, insightful written works which will enlighten the readers and encourage them to walk more closely with Him and His will.

Pray for the artists – that they will be willing to share appropriate songs, maps, paintings, etc, which will visually make our Bible beautiful and inspire the reader to worship the LORD.

Pray for Translators – one day, we hope to translate every devotion and meme into other languages – please pray for volunteers who can help us and that they will faithfully translate all the writings. [If you (or someone you know) can volunteer, please contact us]

Free Advertising for Jewish Missions

At the bottom of every devotion, we will acknowledge the writer of that devotion and the Jewish mission they represent. We will also include their mission website and logo. At the back of the TMD Bible, there will be a 100-word bio for each contributor and their mission/ministry.

Therefore, every devotion that a mission sends us is a free advertisement of that mission.

Thank you for taking the time to read this page. If you would like further information, or would like to support us in this endeavour in any way, please contact us.

May the LORD bless you, especially at such a time as this!

Todah raba (Hebrew for “thank you very much”!)
